Gatherer's Granola Kickstarter Campaign Has Begun‏

GatherersGatherers Granola is a local granola company whos product can be found-to my knowledge-at every local farmers market.  This healthy snack can also be located at Honest Weight Food Co-op and many other markets and at several local events.

In the recent past, Gatherers Granola staff graciously sent the CRFoodies Team samples of  their 3 granola mixes and each was very good for my liking.   I actually had already purchased and tried one or two of the mixes in the past.  I just make a bowl of Vanilla Yogurt with any one of the mixes and it makes a great snack or dessert.

Gatherers has started a new fund raising campaign:

For the next 28 days people can log onto www.kickstarter.com, and then search for "granola" or "gluten free" and participate in Gatherer's Granola's crowd-sourcing effort to roll out three new gluten free, non-GMO flavors.   There is also a Kickstarter video which features Sandro Gerbini, founder, and the jazz musicians who staff the bakery (and that's a story all by itself).

The Company's website is http://gatherersgranola.com/   check out the "about" page for the story of how it all got started and the "markets" page to find all the places you can shop for Gatherers!     Good Luck to them on this new and exciting undertaking.

Hudson-Berkshire Wine and Food Festival - Review

IMG 20130525 120026The first ever Hudson-Berkshire Wine and Food Festival was held at Columbia County Fairgrounds on May 25th.

There were 17 different wineries, breweries, and distilleries as well as over 20 food vendors present to sample their products from all over New York and Massachusetts

Even with the bad weather, there seemed to be a decent turnout for the first day of this two day event.

The bad weather made event organizers move things around at the last second, so the ticket tables were moved inside (making the entrance a bit hard to find) and parking attendants were few and far between.

You still have a few hours to visit tonight, as well as all day tomorrow.  If you do go, be sure to visit the food vendors outside, they need some love too, and the bad weather keeps people from seeing them as much as the vendors inside.

Food Truck Festival - Review

logoYesterday marked the first ever Food Truck Festival held in the Capital Region.

There were 14 food trucks participating, and thousands of people came out in the beautiful weather.

Attendance we so good, there were lines of up to 2 hours just to place an order.

The event got very packed, but was well run.  Next year, hopefully there will be even more vendors to reduce line time, and since tables were in limited supply, I would hope they increase the seats as well.
